Functional Electrical Stimulation Course

The learning outcomes for this course are:
Knowledge
Each participant will be able to:
- Describe the mechanism of a muscle contraction.
- Relate stimulus parameters to therapeutic goals.
- Use clinical reasoning to incorporate electrical stimulation into a treatment plan for an individual patient.
- Critically evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of the literature of clinical efficacy of functional electrical stimulation.
Skills
Each participant will be able to:
- Confidently and appropriately apply functional electrical stimulation in a range of clinical situations.
- Demonstrate use of at least two different electrical stimulation units.
Attitudes
Each participant will be able to:
- Respond positively to new technologies.
