Clinical Gait Assessment: a Step in the Right Direction

The learning outcomes for this course are:

Knowledge

Each participant will be able to:

  1. Discuss normal gait biomechanics and motor control.
  2. Debate gait assessment options and treatment in relation to the WHO's ICF model of health.
  3. Analyse and clinically reason gait analysis outcomes to develop appropriate treatment interventions.
  4. Critically evaluate the strengths, weaknesses and psychometric properties of a variety of gait assessment tools.

Skills

Each participant will be able to:

  1. Appropriately perform a systematic observational gait analysis.
  2. Demonstrate use of a two dimensional computer based gait analysis.

Attitudes

Each participant will be able to:

  1. Value the use of quantitative measures in everyday clinical practice.
  2. Respond positively to new technologies in gait analysis.
